The City of Fort Lauderdale’s State of the City Address took place on September 14, 2022.  If you don’t have time to watch the 1 hour replay that the city put out, check out my really quick video that I put together here which highlights the most talkworthy items coming out of the event.  I guarantee that you’ll learn a few fun facts that you didn’t know before.

Before we get started, if you could do me a really big favor and hit that subscribe button, you’ll get an alert from YouTube every time I put out a video like this.  I’d really appreciate the support!

Now let’s talk about Public Safety!

✅ A brand new police HQ plus additional funding for 24 more police officers

✅ A new fire station has been opened, 1 is being rebuilt and another site has been acquired to build an additional station plus funding for 16 more firefighters

Next up .. Economic Development!

✅ Restaurants are doing well!  According to OpenTable, Fort Lauderdale has seen the 2nd biggest jump in restaurant reservations since 2019

✅ With the popularity of Fort Lauderdale all time high, many corporations across industries are continuing to relocate to Fort Lauderdale

✅ Businesses can take advantage of sophisticated international shipping networks thanks to Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport

✅ Movie production is coming to Fort Lauderdale with a $150 million full service film studio, backlot and more

And lastly .. Tourism!

✅ A few years back, there was only 1 historic hotel serving all of downtown.  Now, there are multiple hotels downtown and an ultra luxury brand is now under construction.

✅ The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, a huge economic driver for the city, will remain located at Bahia Mar for years to come

Best part about all of this?  It’s all within just a couple square miles and of course there are plenty of homes of all kinds and within all price points in the heart of it all. As Fort Lauderdale continues to build a Walkable urban experience that rivals most cities around the world, downtown is the center of it all and it’s the city you’ll never want to leave.
